The eight northern New Jersey shops on this page run from Bergen County down to Union County. Ridgewood Needlepoint and Gone Stitching are in Wyckoff and Bergenfield; The Little Stitchery and Morgan Julia Designs are in Hoboken and Jersey City, about two miles apart; Beyond Knits & Needles and Mrs. Meshugga are in Verona and Maplewood; and Wool & Grace and Lucy Lane Needlepoint are in Summit and New Providence, under three miles apart.
The Little Stitchery is the nearest to Manhattan, about two and a half miles west of Midtown across the Hudson, and Morgan Julia Designs is about four and a half miles southwest of Midtown. The others are between about eleven and twenty-two miles out.

A needlepoint shop on Clinton Avenue in Wyckoff, selling hand-painted canvases and fibers for more than two decades by its own account, and now owned by Adrienne. It carries canvases on 13 and 18 mesh, 13 the most common, and threads, with a beginner class, trunk shows that each bring a designer's line for a week, and finishing.
Closed on Sundays and Mondays. No appointment is needed, its site says. It began in Ridgewood and is now about three and a half miles northwest of the middle of Ridgewood, so set your directions by the address rather than the name.

Which one to go to
From the city, go to The Little Stitchery in Hoboken or Morgan Julia Designs in Jersey City, about 0.4 miles from the Grove Street PATH station. Both are open on Sundays and until 8pm on Thursdays.
For one painter's own designs, go to Morgan Julia Designs, whose canvases lean classic, preppy, and nautical.
For Judaica, go to Gone Stitching in Bergenfield, which calls itself a one-stop shop for it. Mrs. Meshugga carries Judaica canvases too.
For a canvas club, one designer's series of canvases released across the year, ask at Ridgewood Needlepoint in Wyckoff, whose site listed five clubs as opening soon when we checked in October 2026.
On a Friday evening, go to Wool & Grace in Summit, open until 7:30pm, which sells yarn as well as needlepoint. Lucy Lane Needlepoint is under three miles away.

- Several keep short days. Ridgewood Needlepoint is open from 10am to 2pm, Gone Stitching until 1pm on Mondays and 3pm from Tuesday to Thursday, and Beyond Knits & Needles from 11am to 2:30pm on three days a week.
- Call Beyond Knits & Needles, Mrs. Meshugga, and Wool & Grace first. The first asks you to call because its hours have changed, and the other two each give two different schedules on their sites.
- On a Sunday, go to The Little Stitchery or Mrs. Meshugga, both open from 11am to 4pm, or Morgan Julia Designs, open from noon to 4pm.
- Bring the canvas if you have one. Thread and mesh have to be matched to the specific canvas, and nobody can do that from a photograph. See our thread guide for what that pairing involves.
FAQ
Is there a needlepoint shop in Ridgewood?
Not one we can confirm in the town itself. Ridgewood Needlepoint began on Maple Avenue in Ridgewood and moved to Clinton Avenue in Wyckoff, by its own account. It is about three and a half miles northwest of the middle of Ridgewood.
Is there a needlepoint shop in Short Hills or Montclair?
Not in either town that we have been able to confirm, but both have one close by. Wool & Grace in Summit is about two miles from Short Hills, and Beyond Knits & Needles in Verona is under two miles from Montclair.
Is there a needlepoint shop near Princeton?
Yes. The Secret Stitchery in Hopewell, about six miles west of the middle of Princeton, is on our Princeton page. Pins and Needles in Princeton has closed as a shop, though it still comes up in search results.
What about Manhattan?
