Needlepoint Shops in Fairfield County

Four shops: one on the Old Greenwich shoreline, one on Post Road in Darien, Penny Linn's flagship in Rowayton, and one inland in Wilton.

Fairfield County has four needlepoint shops we can confirm. The Village Ewe is on Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich, about three and a half miles east of the middle of Greenwich; New England Stitchery is on Post Road in Darien, about two miles north of the middle of the town; Penny Linn's flagship store is on Rowayton Avenue in Norwalk, about two miles southwest of the middle of the city; and The Enriched Stitch is on Danbury Road in Wilton, about two and a half miles southeast of the middle of the town. New England Stitchery and Penny Linn are about one and a half miles apart, so the two make one trip; The Village Ewe is about six miles southwest of New England Stitchery, and The Enriched Stitch about eight miles from Penny Linn.

Three of the four publish their hours and The Enriched Stitch does not, so call Wilton before you set out. Penny Linn has no phone at all, by its own account; write to it through its site.

Which one to go to

For a canvas painted to order, or a canvas stitched for you, The Village Ewe, which offers both.

For a stitch guide to go with a canvas, The Enriched Stitch, which sells stitch guides written by Suzie for canvases it carries.

For a free evening of stitching, The Village Ewe's stitch nights, which you reserve ahead. Penny Linn also lists stitch nights and classes on its events calendar.

For finishing, New England Stitchery, which sends pieces to its finisher, The Village Ewe, or The Enriched Stitch. Penny Linn does not take finishing, but its site keeps a directory of finishers.

On a Sunday, go to Penny Linn, open from noon to 4pm. The Village Ewe and New England Stitchery are closed on Sundays, and The Enriched Stitch publishes no hours.

On a Monday, New England Stitchery, open from 10:30am to 4pm. The Village Ewe and Penny Linn are closed, and The Enriched Stitch publishes no hours.

After work, Penny Linn again, open until 6pm from Tuesday to Saturday, or New England Stitchery on a Wednesday, also until 6pm.

Also in the area

Island House Needlepoint, on Day Street in South Norwalk, about two and a half miles northeast of Penny Linn, is in its own words a local needlepoint finisher and stitching studio. It finishes pieces for stitchers and for shops, holds classes, workshops, and open stitching, and sells canvases, tools, and bags made from reclaimed sails. It is a finisher and studio first, so it is not listed as a shop above. Its calendar page gives studio hours of 9am to 4pm on Monday and from Wednesday to Friday, 9am to 8pm on Tuesday, Saturdays as its calendar shows, and closed on Sundays. It asks visitors to check that calendar for closures, so call it on (203) 247-9227 before you bring a canvas.

What about Stamford or Norwalk?

From the middle of Stamford, The Village Ewe is about three and a half miles south and New England Stitchery about four miles east. In Norwalk, Penny Linn is on Rowayton Avenue, about two miles southwest of the middle of the city.

Can I learn here as a beginner?

Yes. New England Stitchery teaches beginners free of charge on Wednesday mornings, up to four at a time, if you buy your canvas and threads there; its site listed the class through October 2026 when we checked in September. The Village Ewe offers classes and private lessons, and Penny Linn and The Enriched Stitch both hold classes.
