Needlepoint Shops in Rhode Island
Three shops, in Barrington, East Greenwich, and Newport, all open from Wednesday to Saturday.
Rhode Island has three needlepoint shops we can confirm, no two more than about seventeen miles apart. The Picket Fence is on Bosworth Street in Barrington, about eight miles southeast of Providence City Hall. Needlepoint by the Bay is on Post Road in East Greenwich, about thirteen miles south of City Hall, and Lycette of Newport is on William Street in Newport.
All three are open from Wednesday to Saturday, so those are the days to see them together.

Closed on Mondays. Its Newport page gives Sunday hours for July and August only, but its calendar shows the shop open from 11am to 3pm on Sundays into November, so check the calendar before a Sunday visit. A full-service needlepoint shop on Post Road in East Greenwich, with canvases from new and established designers, threads, accessories, classes, and finishing through a network of finishers.
Thursday runs until 8pm, the one late opening of the three shops here. Open stitch runs on Sundays from 11am to 3pm. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

A needlepoint shop on Bosworth Street, trading for more than forty years by its own account, with hand-painted canvases, threads, and accessories, a custom painter, custom stitching, finishing through the finishers it works with, private lessons, and trunk shows. Linda is its owner.
Closed on Sundays and Mondays. The shop publishes no ZIP code, so we have not printed one.
Which one to go to
On a Sunday, Needlepoint by the Bay is open from 11am to 3pm, with an open stitch, and Lycette of Newport may be open from 11am to 3pm: its Newport page gives Sunday hours for July and August only, but its calendar showed Sunday openings into November when we checked in September 2026.

- Nothing opens on a Monday. All three are closed, and Needlepoint by the Bay is closed on Tuesdays too.
- Bring the canvas if you have one. Thread and mesh have to be matched to the specific canvas, and nobody can do that from a photograph. See our thread guide for what that pairing involves.

Can I see all three in one day?
Yes, from Wednesday to Saturday. Newport and East Greenwich are about thirteen miles apart, East Greenwich and Barrington about eleven, and Barrington and Newport about seventeen. Start at The Picket Fence, which opens at 10:30am and closes at 4pm, and finish at Lycette, open until 5pm, or on a Thursday at Needlepoint by the Bay, open until 8pm.
Is there a needlepoint shop in Providence?
Not one we have been able to confirm. The Picket Fence in Barrington is about eight miles southeast of Providence City Hall, and Needlepoint by the Bay in East Greenwich about thirteen miles south.
