Needlepoint Shops in Palm Beach County

Three shops strung along thirty-five miles of coast, from Palm Beach down to Boca Raton.

Palm Beach County is one of the strongest needlepoint markets in the country, and the reason is not complicated. It is wealthy, it is traditional in its tastes, and a large part of it spends winters here and summers in exactly the New England towns where needlepoint never went out of fashion.

The three shops are strung along about thirty-five miles of coast. One is on the island of Palm Beach, one is fifteen minutes north in Lake Park, and one is down in Boca Raton. They are different enough from each other that the drive between them is worth it.

A note on the season

This is a seasonal county, and needlepoint follows the pattern. Hours are at their most reliable between roughly November and April, when the winter residents are here, and they can thin out over the summer.

The hours below are what each shop publishes. In August they are a suggestion rather than a promise, so call first.

Before you go

• Call before driving to Boca. Marion's Nimble Needle opens four hours a day, four days a week, and its website has not been touched in some time.
• Parking is the difference. Lake Park and Boca Raton are easy. The island of Palm Beach is not, so leave time for it.

FAQ

Which shop is best if I only have time for one?

Lycette in Palm Beach if you want the widest range and do not mind the parking. Needlepoint Alley in Lake Park if you would rather browse several thousand canvases without ceremony.

Is there a needlepoint shop in Delray Beach, Jupiter, or Wellington?

Not one we have been able to confirm. Lake Park is the closest to Jupiter, and Boca Raton is the closest to Delray.

Are these shops open in the summer?

Generally yes, but on reduced or less predictable hours. This is a winter-season county, and a shop that is busy in February may be quiet in July. Always call between May and October.

What about Naples or Miami?

Different markets on different coasts, and we have not written them up yet. This page covers Palm Beach County only, which runs from roughly Jupiter down to Boca Raton.
