Two shops, one in the French Quarter open every day and one out on Canal Boulevard.
New Orleans has two needlepoint shops, about three and a half miles apart. The Quarter Stitch has been on Chartres Street in the French Quarter since 1969, about 0.9 miles northeast of City Hall, and Needle Arts Studio is on Canal Boulevard, about three miles northwest of City Hall.
Both sell knitting yarn alongside needlepoint, and both carry canvases of New Orleans, many of them their own. The Quarter Stitch opens every day; Needle Arts Studio is closed on Sundays.

A needlepoint and knitting shop on Chartres Street in the French Quarter, open there since 1969 and by its own directions half a block from Jackson Square, about 0.9 miles northeast of City Hall. Hand-painted canvases, many of them New Orleans designs made in the shop or by local artists, hand-dyed yarns, and a few cross stitch and embroidery kits. It usually prices a canvas with the wool chosen for it, and sells the canvas alone if you ask.

It sells canvases under its own Needle NOLA name, many of them New Orleans subjects such as alligators and Mardi Gras, alongside other designers' canvases and knitting yarn, and finishes pillows, ornaments, belts, purses, and more.

Before you go
- Take the streetcar to Needle Arts Studio. It is about 0.2 miles from the Cemeteries stop at the end of the Canal Street line.
- Ask for the canvas alone if that is what you want. The Quarter Stitch usually prices a canvas with the wool chosen for it.

FAQ
Is there a needlepoint shop in Metairie or on the North Shore?
Not one we have been able to confirm. Needle Arts Studio is the nearer to Metairie, about four miles east of its middle, and it began on Metairie Road in 1993 before moving to Canal Boulevard. From Mandeville, both shops are about twenty-seven miles or more away.
Can I get finishing done in New Orleans?

Can I buy cross stitch here too?
