Baton Rouge has two needlepoint shops we can confirm, about a mile apart, both east of downtown. The Elegant Needle is on Government Street, about four miles east, and The Red Stitch is on Jefferson Highway, about five miles east.
That makes them one easy trip, once you have checked The Red Stitch's hours, which its site does not give.

A full-service needlepoint shop in the Mid-City Merchants District, opened in 1994 by Marian Pyle and now run by Catherine Pletsch, who learned to stitch at four and started coming to the shop at fourteen. Canvases are arranged by theme, from beginner pieces to Christmas stockings.
Open four days a week, Wednesday to Saturday, with Wednesday the late day, until 6pm.
