Needlepoint Shops in Atlanta

Three shops: two in the north of the metro about eight miles apart, and one in downtown Newnan to the southwest.

Of the three needlepoint shops we can confirm around Atlanta, two are north of downtown. Labors of Love Needlepoint is on Plasamour Drive, about four and a half miles north, and The Nimble Needle is on Johnson Ferry Road in Sandy Springs, about twelve miles north; those two are about eight miles apart. Ella Anne Needlepoint is further out, in downtown Newnan, about thirty-five miles southwest of downtown Atlanta.

Neither of the two northern shops opens on a Sunday, and of those two only Labors of Love opens on a Monday. The one evening we can confirm is Thursday at The Nimble Needle, until 7pm. Ella Anne publishes no hours, so call it before you drive out.

Which one to go to

On a Monday, go to Labors of Love. The Nimble Needle is closed.

After work, The Nimble Needle, which stays open until 7pm on Thursdays. Labors of Love's site gives 8pm on Wednesdays in one place and 4pm in another, so call before counting on it.

Coming from Newnan or Peachtree City, Ella Anne Needlepoint is the nearest of the three, but call first: it publishes no hours.

• Book a help session ahead. The Nimble Needle limits each one to ten people and asks you to reserve a place by phone.
• Ask about trunk shows. The Nimble Needle lists its trunk shows on its site, and a trunk show is the chance to see a painter's full range in person.
• Call Ella Anne before you go. Its site gives no hours, and two different addresses; its number is (678) 953-9532.
• Bring the canvas if you have one. Thread and mesh have to be matched to the specific canvas, and nobody can do that from a photograph. See our thread guide for what that pairing involves.

FAQ

Is there a needlepoint shop in Buckhead?

Not one we can confirm. Labors of Love recommends Buckhead hotels to visitors and puts them about four miles from the shop, by its own account. The Nimble Needle is further north, in Sandy Springs.

Can I learn here as a beginner?

Yes. Labors of Love lists a beginner class, The Nimble Needle runs two for beginners, Needlepoint 101 and a shorter Quick Start class, and Ella Anne Needlepoint holds beginner classes too.

Is there a needlepoint shop in Newnan or Peachtree City?

Newnan has Ella Anne Needlepoint, downtown. We have not confirmed one in Peachtree City; Ella Anne is about thirteen miles west of the middle of Peachtree City.

What about Athens?

Blue Willow Needlepoint, in Statham, is on our Athens page, about forty-five miles east of The Nimble Needle.

Can I get to Labors of Love or The Nimble Needle without a car?

Labors of Love is about 0.7 miles from Lindbergh Center, a MARTA rail station. The Nimble Needle is about two miles from the nearest, Sandy Springs station.

Is The Nimble Needle in Sandy Springs the same shop as the one in New Jersey?

No. The Nimble Needle in Merchantville, New Jersey, on our Philadelphia page, is a separate business with the same name.
