Sioux Falls' needlepoint shop sits southwest of downtown: Barbara's Needlepoint, on South Western Avenue about one and a half miles out, is the one we can confirm in the city. It carries canvases, threads, and tools, pulls threads to kit a canvas, and has a finishing team of more than ten finishers.

The shop takes finishing by mail as well as in person, so stitchers well outside Sioux Falls can use it too; for Christmas, it asks for pieces by the end of June.

Barbara's Needlepoint opens Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday from 10am to 3pm, and is closed on Sundays. The shop hours have no evening opening, so on a working day a visit has to fit before 4pm. The exception is its free evening stitch group, twice a month.

• Come to the evening stitch group. It is free, and meets on the second Tuesday and the last Friday of each month from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
• Plan Christmas finishing for June. The shop asks for stitched pieces by the end of June to be reasonably safe for Christmas, and gives no guarantee.

Is there a needlepoint shop in Brandon, Harrisburg, or Tea?

Not one we have been able to confirm. Barbara's is about nine and a half miles southwest of the middle of Brandon, about seven miles north of the middle of Harrisburg, and about six and a half miles northeast of the middle of Tea.

Can I learn here as a beginner?

Yes. The shop runs a Needlepoint 101 class for beginners, and the one on its calendar when we checked in September 2026 was in the evening, from 6pm. It also teaches classes over Zoom.

Can I send finishing from out of town?

Yes. Print the finishing form from the shop's site and send it with the piece, packed safely. The shop calls when the box arrives, and again to talk through your choices when your piece comes up in its queue. Read our finishing guide before you send anything.
