The Kansas City area has two needlepoint shops we can confirm, about three and a half miles apart, both south of downtown. KC Needlepoint is on Wornall Road in Missouri, about eight miles south, and The Studio Knitting & Needlepoint is across the state line on Nall Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas.
That makes them one easy trip. From Tuesday to Saturday both are open between 11am and 3pm.

A full-service needlepoint shop with designer canvases, a choice of fibers, custom-designed canvases, finishing, and classes for beginners and experienced stitchers.
Thursday runs until 7pm. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Some retailer lists still show its old address on Gregory Boulevard.

Knitting and needlepoint since 1967, when it started in the basement of Brookside Toy and Science, and on Nall Avenue since 2014, with classes, social events, and a staff happy to help with a tough stitch.
A combined knitting and needlepoint shop rather than a needlepoint-only one. There is good parking. Closed on Sundays.
Which one to go to
On a Monday, go to The Studio, the one of the two open that day.
For an evening, go to KC Needlepoint on a Thursday, when it stays open until 7pm.
For finishing or a custom-designed canvas, go to KC Needlepoint. If you knit as well, The Studio carries both crafts.
Before you go
- Neither opens on a Sunday.
- Bring the canvas if you have one. Thread and mesh have to be matched to the specific canvas, and nobody can do that from a photograph. See our thread guide for what that pairing involves.
