Needlepoint Shops in San Diego
Two shops that keep almost opposite hours: Needle Nook in La Jolla on weekdays, and Navy Noo in San Marcos, in North County, on weekends.
San Diego has two needlepoint shops we can confirm, about eighteen miles apart. Needle Nook of La Jolla is on Fay Avenue in La Jolla, about eleven miles northwest of downtown, and Navy Noo Needlepoint is inland in San Marcos, in North County, about twenty-seven miles north.
Their hours barely overlap, so the day of the week decides it. Needle Nook is a weekday shop, and Navy Noo opens on weekends and on Wednesday evenings.

Open since 1970, and owned since 2023 by Vicky De Angelis, its manager since 2008. It is two stores in downtown La Jolla: the Thread Gallery, with over a hundred lines of thread, and the Canvas Studio, with three thousand square feet of painted canvases. It also runs classes and trunk shows and takes finishing.
Closed on weekends apart from the first Saturday of the month, and on major federal holidays. Its deadlines for holiday finishing fall between July 1 and September 1, depending on the finisher, so bring Christmas pieces in by summer.

A family-owned shop with canvases, threads, and a kitting service, with Stitch Nights on Wednesday evenings in its classroom, and workshops.
It is in a business park that looks industrial from outside: look for Suite 100 and the little white bird. Its hours can change from week to week, and it posts them on Instagram as @shopnavynoo, so check there or call. It publishes no ZIP code, so we have not printed one rather than guess.
Which one to go to
On a weekday, go to Needle Nook. On a weekend, go to Navy Noo.
On the first Saturday of the month both are open, so that is the day to see both.
After work, Navy Noo's Wednesday Stitch Night runs from 5pm to 7pm.
If you are hunting for a particular thread, start at Needle Nook, where one of its two stores is given over entirely to thread.

Not one we have been able to confirm. The nearest is Needle Nook of La Jolla, about eleven miles northwest.
Can I get a finished piece made up?
Needle Nook takes finishing, through several finishers. Navy Noo does not mention finishing on its site, so ask there.
Can I learn here as a beginner?
Needle Nook runs regular classes, and Navy Noo holds workshops and its Wednesday Stitch Nights. Ask either about a first project.
