Needlepoint Shops at the Delaware Beaches

Two shops about twelve and a half miles apart, Stitch-Stash in Rehoboth Beach and Sea Needles in Bethany Beach.

At the Delaware beaches we can confirm two needlepoint shops, about twelve and a half miles apart. Stitch-Stash is on North First Street in Rehoboth Beach, about 0.4 miles north of the middle of town, and Sea Needles is on Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach, about 0.4 miles northwest of the middle of that town.

Neither site gives separate winter hours: Sea Needles says it opens Monday to Saturday all year round, and Stitch-Stash that it is closed on Sundays and Mondays all year.

In its own words a full-service needlepoint store, on North First Street between Baltimore and Maryland Avenues, about 0.4 miles north of the middle of Rehoboth Beach. It carries hand-painted canvases from a long list of artists, its own Stitch-Stash designs and a collection of local canvases among them, threads, and self-finishing pieces, and it holds classes and trunk shows and takes pillows for finishing.

Closed on Sundays and Mondays, all year, by its own site. Pillows come back finished about three weeks after you approve the price, four with a monogram, and there are about a hundred fabrics in the shop to choose from.

A needlework shop on Garfield Parkway, about 0.4 miles northwest of the middle of Bethany Beach, founded in 1984 and at this address since 1989, by its own history. Alongside yarn for knitting and crochet and cross stitch supplies, it carries hand-painted needlepoint canvases, Persian wool, floss, and specialty threads; it offers finishing into pillows, ornaments, purses, and belts through the finishers it works with, and does custom framing.

A combined needlework shop rather than a needlepoint-only one. Closed on Sundays; its site says it opens Monday to Saturday all year round. Its needlepoint classes are booked by phone.

Which one to go to

On a Monday, go to Sea Needles, open from Monday to Saturday. Stitch-Stash opens from Tuesday, and neither opens on a Sunday.

For a shop that sells needlepoint alone, Stitch-Stash. Sea Needles also carries yarn for knitting and crochet, and cross stitch supplies.

FAQ

Is there a needlepoint shop in Lewes or Dewey Beach?

Not one we have been able to confirm. Stitch-Stash is about five miles southeast of the middle of Lewes and about two miles north of the middle of Dewey Beach.

What about Ocean City, Maryland, or Fenwick Island?

Sea Needles is the nearer of the two to both, about ten miles north of the middle of Ocean City and about five and a half miles north of the middle of Fenwick Island.

Can I get a finished piece made up?

Yes, at either. Stitch-Stash takes pillows for finishing, with about a hundred fabrics in the shop to choose from, and Sea Needles offers finishing into pillows, ornaments, purses, and belts, and frames needlework. Read our finishing guide before you hand anything over.

Where is the nearest other shop?
