Needlepoint Shops in Raleigh and the Triangle

Four shops, two in Raleigh and two in Chapel Hill, with at least one of them open on every day from Monday to Saturday.

The Triangle has four needlepoint shops we can confirm, two in Raleigh and two in Chapel Hill. Needlepoint.Com is on Hillsborough Street, about three miles northwest of downtown Raleigh, and S & J Needleworks is on Falls River Avenue, about eleven miles northeast. In Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill Needlepoint is in Midtown Market, about twenty-five miles northwest of downtown Raleigh, and Elizabeth Brooke is at University Place, about one and a half miles east of it.

The two Chapel Hill shops are close enough for one trip. Needlepoint.Com opens only from Wednesday to Friday, and Elizabeth Brooke is the one of the four open on a Monday; none of them opens on a Sunday without an appointment.

Which one to go to

On a Monday, go to Elizabeth Brooke, open from 10am to 2pm. The other three are closed.

On a Tuesday, go to Chapel Hill Needlepoint, or book an appointment at S & J Needleworks. Needlepoint.Com and Elizabeth Brooke are closed.

On a Saturday, Elizabeth Brooke, until 6pm, S & J Needleworks, until 4pm, or Chapel Hill Needlepoint, until 2pm.

After work, any of three shops on a Thursday: Needlepoint.Com and S & J Needleworks in Raleigh and Elizabeth Brooke in Chapel Hill all stay open until 7pm that day. Elizabeth Brooke is also open until 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

• Call S & J before a Tuesday. Tuesdays are by appointment only.
• Write to Elizabeth Brooke for an appointment. It opens on Wednesdays and Sundays by appointment only, and it publishes no phone number; its site has a contact form.
• Check Elizabeth Brooke's October hours. Its site lists shorter hours on some days in October 2026, among them a closed Monday on October 5.
• Park outside Needlepoint.Com. The company says there is free parking in the lot directly outside the Raleigh shop.
• Bring the canvas if you have one. Thread and mesh have to be matched to the specific canvas, and nobody can do that from a photograph. See our thread guide for what that pairing involves.

FAQ

Is the Raleigh Needlepoint.Com the same business as the Charleston one?

Yes. It is the same company, with two shops you can walk into: this one, and the Charleston shop, which we have written up separately.

Is there a needlepoint shop in Durham or Cary?

Not one we have been able to confirm. Needlepoint.Com is the nearest to Cary, about seven and a half miles east of the middle of Cary, and Elizabeth Brooke the nearest to Durham, about eight miles southwest of the middle of Durham.

Can I learn here as a beginner?

Yes. S & J Needleworks runs a beginner class each month, on a Wednesday afternoon or evening, and Needlepoint.Com offers classes at both of its shops. Elizabeth Brooke runs a two-hour class for brand-new stitchers, taught by its owner, Sarah, with a beginner canvas, threads, a needle, and a stitch guide included, and its site has a free series of short videos for beginners, Needlepoint School.

How far apart are the four shops?

The two Raleigh shops are about twelve miles apart, and the two Chapel Hill shops about one and a half. Chapel Hill Needlepoint is about twenty-two miles from Needlepoint.Com and about twenty-seven from S & J Needleworks; Elizabeth Brooke is about twenty-one and twenty-six.
