Needlepoint Shops in Pittsburgh
Three shops around the city, in Point Breeze, southwest of downtown on Washington Road, and in Sewickley, and between them one is open every day but Sunday.
Pittsburgh has three needlepoint shops we can confirm, spread around the city. Needle Point Breeze is about four miles east of downtown in Point Breeze, Beehive Needle Arts about five miles southwest on Washington Road, and The Porcupine about twelve miles northwest in Sewickley.
Needle Point Breeze and Beehive take turns through the week, Tuesday and Thursday against Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and The Porcupine opens every morning from Tuesday to Saturday, so Saturday is the only day all three are open.

Opened in 2002 by Natalie Kelley in Point Breeze, the neighborhood it is named for, with over twenty-five hundred canvases and the fibers to go with them. It runs a free weekly stitching group and teaches by the hour.
Open three days a week. There is free street parking on Reynolds and Gettysburg Streets, but watch for street cleaning days.

Founded in 2007 and run by a mother and her daughters. It carries only hand-painted canvases, hundreds of them in stock, and over a hundred fiber lines in every color each line makes. Finishing goes to finishers around the country, there is an artist on staff, and private lessons are by appointment.
Its site gives Wednesday as 9am to 2pm in one place and 9am to 7pm in another, so call before a Wednesday afternoon visit. Closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Trading since 1972 in the middle of Sewickley, with hand-painted canvases from artists across the country, fibers, accessories, and finishing.
Open mornings only, from 9am to 1pm, so plan on an early start.
Which one to go to
On a Monday, go to Beehive Needle Arts, the one of the three open that day.
On a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon, go to Needle Point Breeze, open until 5pm. Beehive is closed on those days, and The Porcupine closes at 1pm.
If you are just starting, Needle Point Breeze teaches by the hour and runs a free weekly stitching group, and Beehive gives private lessons by appointment.
Before you go
- Saturday is the day to see more than one. All three are open, but The Porcupine closes at 1pm and Beehive at 2pm, so start with those and finish in Point Breeze, which stays open until 4pm.
- Nothing opens on a Sunday.
- Bring the canvas if you have one. Thread and mesh have to be matched to the specific canvas, and nobody can do that from a photograph. See our thread guide for what that pairing involves.

Not one we have been able to confirm. The nearest is Needle Point Breeze, about four miles east.
Can I get a finished piece made up?
Beehive and The Porcupine both take finishing. Needle Point Breeze does not mention finishing on its site, so ask there.
