Needlepoint Shops in Cleveland
Two shops, one in Cleveland Heights on the east side and one south of the city in Bath, near Akron.
The Cleveland area has two needlepoint shops we can confirm, about twenty-one miles apart. Wool and Willow Needlepoint is in Cleveland Heights, about seven miles east of downtown. The other, i of the needle, is south of the city in Bath, on Cleveland-Massillon Road, with an Akron mailing address.
For most people they are two separate trips. Cleveland Heights is the nearer from the city and the east side, and Bath from Akron and the southern suburbs.

A full-service shop with a large choice of hand-painted canvases, including a Cleveland collection and work by local artists, plus fibers, accessories, classes from beginner up, and trunk shows.
Closed on Sundays and Mondays, and it opens at 11am, so plan on a late morning or an afternoon.

Founded in Fairlawn in 1986 and now in a bright, modern shop in Bath, with new and traditional canvases, a large thread range, ribbon and beads, classes, and finishing, much of it done by its own finisher on site. It calls itself Northeast Ohio's oldest needlepoint shop.
Its site also announces new Thursday hours until 7:30pm, so call to check before an evening visit. The mailing address says Akron, and the shop describes itself as in Bath.
Which one to go to
Both are open Tuesday to Saturday, so the time of day decides it more than the day. For an early start, go to i of the needle, which opens at 10am. For a late afternoon, go to Wool and Willow, open until 5pm from Tuesday to Friday, an hour after i of the needle closes.
If you want a canvas of the city, go to Wool and Willow, which keeps a Cleveland collection.
If you have a piece to be finished, go to i of the needle, which has a finisher on site.
Before you go
- Neither opens on a Sunday or a Monday. Plan a weekend visit for Saturday.
- Call i of the needle before a Thursday evening. Its site announces hours until 7:30pm on Thursdays, but its posted hours still say 4pm.
- Bring the canvas if you have one. Thread and mesh have to be matched to the specific canvas, and nobody can do that from a photograph. See our thread guide for what that pairing involves.

Is there a needlepoint shop in downtown Cleveland?
Not one we have been able to confirm. The nearest is Wool and Willow in Cleveland Heights, about seven miles east of Public Square.
What about the west side?
Not one we have been able to confirm either. An older list of retailers names one in Westlake, but we found no website of its own to check it against, so it is not listed. If you know it is open, tell us and we will check it.
Can I learn here as a beginner?
Both teach. Wool and Willow runs beginner classes, and i of the needle teaches the essentials of needlepoint as well as specialty classes.
