In its own words a full-service needlepoint shop, on East Union Street in downtown Morganton, about two and a half miles off I-40. It carries hand-painted canvases, threads, ribbons, beads, and accessories, special-orders any thread from the lines it works with, adds new trunk shows to its site each month, and takes finishing, from ornaments and stand-ups to stockings, pillows, belts, clutches, and trays. It also hosts retreats, special events, and classes, among them a Saturday morning class for beginners.
Closed on Wednesdays, and open on Sunday afternoons from 1pm to 5pm. Its Stitch Club meets on Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm. Some listings still give 134 W. Union Street instead.

Is there a needlepoint shop in Hickory or Lenoir?
Not one we have been able to confirm. Stitching Chicks is about twenty miles west of the middle of Hickory and about fourteen miles southwest of the middle of Lenoir.
What about Asheville and Boone?
We have not confirmed a shop in either. Stitching Chicks is about fifty miles east of the middle of Asheville and about thirty-two miles south of the middle of Boone. From Asheville, Stitching Fox in Landrum, on our Greenville and the Upstate page, is nearer.
Can I get a finished piece made up?
Yes. Stitching Chicks takes finishing into ornaments, stand-ups, Christmas stockings, pillows, belts, clutches, and trays. Read our finishing guide first so you know what to ask.
Can I learn here as a beginner?
Yes. The shop runs a beginner class on Saturday mornings, on dates it lists on its site. You choose a canvas or a kit in the shop, and the class covers the tools you need, how to kit a canvas, and a few basic stitches; the canvas and threads cost extra. The shop also hosts retreats, other classes, and special events through the year.
